I will briefly talk about the meaning of this meeting tomorrow. I think it is not difficult for us to regard it as a job that only concerns our “theory school” [1], because the teacher of the Youth League is our teacher, Teacher Ye.未, ancestral master. It is impossible to look at the problem like this, because this has greatly reduced the general meaning of the philosophical thinking of Mr. Feng. So, I want to talk about three points, namely the key words of the three groups, and the relationship between the three: the first group is about the problem of “speaking according to the story” and “speaking next”; the second group is closely related to the problems of the first group, I want to talk about the problems of “country people” and “city people”; the third group, I will talk about the problems of “feelings” and “feelings”. Finally, I will add some other questions.
First, let’s look at the first set of keywords, that is, the questions about “speaking according to the following” and “speaking next”. Why should I emphasize the topics of “talking according to the word” and “talking next”? In fact, in my opinion, he not only followed up with the introduction of the article. When you read the book of Master Cheng, especially his “Baiyuan Liu Book”, you will find that he did not simply follow Cheng Zhu, but follow the entire Chinese philosophical tradition or Chinese civilization tradition. At this point, you can do some profound explorations specifically, which is to eliminate a bad idea of the master: Master Feng said according to Cheng Zhu. In fact, far away is not the case. From the perspective of Chinese philosophy, he not only followed Cheng Zhu, because Cheng Zhu’s theory itself was not something that came in vain, it also “speaks” itself, and it followed the entire Chinese philosophy tradition. This is very important.
Another dimension is: what is the actual meaning that Master Feng will continue to talk about? The so-called “continue” 彩彩 is to promote, develop, and transform. There is a problem of the transformation of the times. To speak tomorrow’s ordinary words, it is a problem with the relationship between “premodern” and “modernity”. This is also a point that I have rebuilt over the years. There are many scholars now, especially Confucians. They have dealt with the problem of “changing from ancient and modern times” into the problem of “the difference between China and the West”, that is, they have become a narrow and magnanimous racialist problem. That is, they are not right.
Regarding this question, we understand that Mr. Rong has a famous saying, which is used in the words in “Pen Shu”, which is “All the old country has a new life” [3]. We are “old states”, and we must inherit this “old state”. To put it in today’s fashionable words, we must “inherit” civilized traditions, which is the problem of “ethnic expression”; but at the same time, this “old state” needs to be “upgraded”. Where is the new? This is the problem of “modern sex plea”.
Of course, when Master Rong asked this question, there was a special period of the situation, that is, the war, so “Huxin” has some meanings in a specific period. However, this “time period” is not considered a “time period”. We must go beyond and jump out of this time to see the “renewal” problem. We will never be able to express the “renewal” and “new destiny” taught by Master Feng as an expression of the common racialism. I will never understand this. To put it bluntly, the “new destiny of the old country” is the problem of “modern nature request” and the problem of modern transformation; back to his words, it is the problem of transforming from “country people” to “city people”. In this issue, we need to pay special attention to bias. Over the years, I have been constantly correcting this point in many articles: “The new fate of the old country” is not the problem of “the international between China and the West”, but the problem of “the change of ancient and modern times”.
